Understanding You, Not Just the Diagnosis

Occupational Therapists work with people of all ages to overcome challenges that affect their ability to carry out everyday activities, whether that’s getting dressed, preparing a meal, using transport, or engaging in work, hobbies, or relationships. Rather than focusing solely on a diagnosis, we look at the bigger picture: your environment, routines, goals, and personal values.

By exploring what’s getting in the way and what matters most to you, we can offer tailored strategies, tools, and practical solutions to help improve function, build confidence, and support a more independent and fulfilling life.

The term ‘occupation’ refers to all the day-to-day tasks that give life structure, meaning, and purpose. When illness, injury, disability, or mental health issues interfere with these activities, an Occupational Therapist can help identify what’s getting in the way and offer practical strategies to restore or adapt function. This might involve skill-building, developing new routines, using equipment, or modifying environments.

Supporting Daily Life, One Step at a Time

At Harmony Health Wellbeing CIC, our Occupational Therapists not only draw on clinical expertise, but also use the natural environment as part of the therapeutic process. Working outdoors in calm, green spaces helps people regulate their nervous system, build resilience, and reconnect with themselves and others in a more grounded way. Whether sessions take place at home, online, or out in nature, the focus is always on what matters most to you, empowering you to make sustainable, meaningful changes that improve your quality of life.

Functional Assessments

Our Occupational Therapy assessments are designed to help you live as independently and confidently as possible. We take time to understand how your health condition, environment and daily routines may be affecting your ability to manage essential tasks, whether that’s cooking a meal, getting dressed, using the stairs, or going out into the community.

Using a holistic and practical approach, we explore the physical, cognitive, emotional and environmental factors that may be creating barriers. We then work with you to identify realistic goals and tailor strategies to support your everyday life, this may include activity modifications, new techniques, assistive equipment or small changes in your surroundings. The outcome is a clear, person-centred plan that helps you do more of what matters most, in a way that works for you
