ME/CFS

What is ME / Post-Viral Fatigue Syndrome

Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME), also known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) or Post-Viral Fatigue, (LC) is a long-term health condition that affects many body systems. It often begins after a viral or bacterial infection and can cause persistent and overwhelming fatigue that doesn’t improve with rest.

People with ME/CFS may also experience:

  • Sleep that isn’t refreshing

  • Brain fog (difficulty with memory or concentration)

  • Muscle or joint pain

  • Dizziness or palpitations

  • Sensitivity to light or sound

  • Worsening of symptoms after activity (known as post-exertional malaise)

Symptoms vary from person to person and can fluctuate over time. ME is a recognised medical condition and can have a significant impact on daily life, work, and relationships.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to managing ME, but with the right support and pacing strategies, many people can improve their quality of life.
